Enjoy the Seaon – Spend Time With Your Family Without Spending a Fortune
Bake cookies. Make it something simple like the standard chocolate chip cookie, but replace the chocolate chips with Christmas M&M’s. I’ve also seen red and green chocolate chips in the stores.
Take advantage of the Christmas shows on TV. Make some hot chocolate, curl up on the couch together, and just watch a movie. We caught the “Prep and Landing” shows last night, and it was so much fun to watch them. Even my teenage son had a good time.
Make pipe cleaner ornaments. The easy one is the candy cane, where just wrap a red and white pipe cleaner together and shape the end like a candy cane. But you can let your imagination run with these, trying different shapes and adding beads.
Make paper snowflakes. Fold your white paper in half, then one side to the other, then again twice more. Your paper should look like a cone. Round off the outside edge. Cut different shapes in the edges of the paper, and then unfold and enjoy.
Walk or drive around your neighborhood and look at the lights. Some communities also have amazing light displays which you can drive or walk through.
Talk about your favorite Christmas memory. You will be amazed at what your family remembers and values.
Make your own wrapping paper. Using butcher paper, decorate with stamps or drawings. This guarantees that your presents will be wrapped in one of a kind paper.
Make a special meal together.
Have a karaoke night and sing along with songs on the radio. Why not?
